Salome Kinya 24, holds her belly as she feels a contraction during labor as she delivers her son at Isiolo District Hospital, Isiolo county, Kenya Monday, Feb. 10, 2014 She is a member of a mother to mother support group sponsored by a local non governmental organisation partnered with Christian Aid in Isiolo county. The key to reducing the maternal and child mortality rate is emphasizing to women in the support groups the importance of antenatal and postnatal care and most importantly the need to deliver their babies in hospitals as opposed to their homes.
