THE SECRET LIFE OF MOTHERS
Ruth Lopardo enjoys the street art outside her new office space for her business Love It Love It Love It, selling colorful kid’s clothing in Newcastle, UK Friday, July 17, 2015 A year after launching her online boutique, Ruth Lopardo doubled her business selling kid’s clothing. But her success triggered a crunch familiar to many fashion retailers: The money she needed to quickly restock popular items was tied up in buying garments for the next season. When Lopardo asked a bank for financing, a loan rejection put her plans in doubt. Luckily for Lopardo and business owners like her, new financial offerings from non-traditional lenders are filling the void of bank lending, which dropped off to smaller firms starting with the Great Recession. Lopardo got the funds via PayPal’s Working Capital, which offers financing to qualified merchants in the U.S., UK and Australia.
